German Bundesliga football team VfL Wolfsburg has entered into a partnership with Chinese tyre manufacturer Linglong Tire in a move that will strengthen the club’s ties to the Asian country.
Although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it was confirmed that the partnership will commence on January 1.
Under the agreement, Linglong Tire will become a second-tier ‘top partner’ of the club alongside Kappa, X-Tip and Castrol.
Linglong Tire will support the club’s Wolfsburg United international sporting initiative as well as its respective projects in partnership with children’s charity Unicef. The Chinese company will also back the club’s football school initiative.
In addition to the partnership, Wolfsburg has bolstered its links with the Asian nation further after it signed Chinese international midfielder Xizhe Zhang (pictured) on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Zhang will join the German club from Chinese team Beijing Guoan and will be added to the Wolfsburg playing squad from January.
