Volvo Ocean Race signs up sustainability partner

The Stena Recycling arm of Stena Metall Group has agreed a partnership with the Volvo Ocean Race sailing event.

The agreement will cover the ongoing 2017-18 competition with Stena Recycling to serve as an official sustainability programme partner for the event. It will activate the deal by providing an expert speaker on sustainability at Volvo Ocean Race Ocean Summits.

The company will also support the Volvo Ocean Race with its ongoing efforts to prevent plastics polluting the oceans by taking part in various initiatives at its sailing events around the world to promote the project.

Anne-Cecile Turner, sustainability programme leader for the Volvo Ocean Race, said: “Volvo Ocean Race Ocean Summits provide a platform to showcase innovative solutions to this global crisis and Stena’s expertise and insight will help create a foundation for positive change.”

Stena Recycling join the Volvo Ocean Race Sustainability Programme, alongside founding principal sustainability partners 11th Hour Racing and principal partner Mirpuri Foundation, and other main partners Volvo, AkzoNobel, Ocean Family Foundation and Bluewater.
