Virgin Australia lands deal with AFL’s Giants

Virgin Australia has agreed a five-year deal to become a co-major partner of Australian Football League club Greater Western Sydney Giants from the start of the 2014 season.

The airline will replace Skoda as a co-major partner of the club, with the automotive company having come to the end of its three-year deal with the Giants. Virgin will join Lifebroker as the club's co-major partner.

Under the new deal, the Virgin Australia logo will be displayed on the front of players’ jerseys during home games and on the back for away matches.

In addition, Virgin Australia signage will be placed in prominent positions at home games, while the club will also work with the airline on various digital content sharing initiatives.

“Today’s announcement follows our recent decision to extend our partnership with the AFL as the official airline of Australia’s most popular sport,” Virgin Australia’s chief executive officer, John Borghetti, said.

The Giants will begin their 2014 season against Sydney Swans on March 15.
