Spanish LaLiga football club Valencia has agreed a shirt sponsorship deal with US-based technology company BLU Products.
The company will serve as Valencia’s main global sponsor for the 2017-18 season. The deal also includes the option for a one-year extension.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Spanish newspaper El Mundo said the deal would be worth €3.2m ($3.6m) per season. Valencia has not had a shirt sponsor for the past three seasons.
BLU Products’ branding will feature on the front of Valencia’s shirts as part of the deal, which also names the company as the club’s global mobile phone partner.
Valencia’s director of marketing, Damià Vidagany, said: “The world is changing; new, attractive and bold brands, like BLU, position themselves on the global market through increasingly innovative marketing strategies. It is an honour for us that they share our belief that Valencia CF has great potential as a vehicle for expansion, being an important member of the world renowned LaLiga and the football phenomenon.
“Furthermore, this agreement gives us a double added value, we are associated with an international brand who have been built upon quality and ambition. We are going to break the barriers of traditional sponsorship, because this agreement opens the door to a new digital frontier and the ability to interact on social media with our partners and fans.”
