US sportswear and equipment manufacturer Under Armour has entered into a multi-year kit partnership with North American Soccer League franchise the New York Cosmos.
Under the agreement, Under Armour will design and develop the club’s playing kit. The company will also develop a range of competition, training and sideline apparel, as well as travel wear.
The announcement comes days after Under Armour agreed a deal to become the official match ball partner of the NASL, the second tier of domestic football in North America. The partnership marked the company’s first-ever with a professional football league and the Cosmos deal is its first with an American club. Under Armour will take over from US rival Nike in the role.
The Cosmos’s kits for the upcoming 2016 season will be unveiled on March 16. The club is the reigning NASL champion and begins its title defence with an opening-day home fixture against Ottawa Fury on April 3.
