Turkish food products manufacturer Ülker has agreed a deal to sponsor the Championship League, Turkey’s first professional esports competition.
As part of the deal, Ülker’s branding will feature on players’ uniforms. The Championship League specialises in League of Legends, a battle arena strategy game.
The Ülker Sports Arena in Istanbul has staged Turkish League of Legends finals events for the past three years, with the competitions having attracted audiences of more than 12,000.
Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah said the country has around three million League of Legends players between the ages of 14 and 28.
Turkish Süper Lig football clubs Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have recently launched their own esports teams.
