Transportation network company Uber has agreed sponsorship deals with NBA basketball franchise the Cleveland Cavaliers and Major League Baseball team the Atlanta Braves, while the latter has also partnered with traffic and navigation app Waze.
The length of Uber’s partnership with the Cavaliers, which names it as the official ride of the team, was not disclosed.
Under the agreement, a dedicated Uber pick-up zone will be opened near Quicken Loans Arena, the Cavaliers’ home ground, to offer fans a convenient way of travelling to and from games. In-arena activations will also be launched, while exclusive promotions will be organised by Uber.
A similar Uber drop-off and pick-up zone will launch at SunTrust Park, the new home ballpark of the Braves, which is due to open next month.
As part of Waze’s partnership with the Braves, the app will collaborate with the team and Cobb County to share data and real-time travel updates with fans and commuters. Fans will receive directions from their doorstep directly to their assigned parking space at SunTrust Park, which will open ahead of the new MLB season.
