Industrial conglomerate Koç Holding has penned a deal to become the main sponsor of the Turkish Olympic Committee.
The agreement will run for three years, from 2014-15 to 2016-17.
Koç Holding was also a sponsor of Istabul’s ultimately unsuccessful bid to host the 2020 summer Olympic Games.
“Istanbul is the correct city for the Olympics. We believe that this dream will come true one day and that is why we wanted to be a sponsor of the Turkish Olympic Committee,” Turgay Durak, the chief executive of the company, said. “We wish to work in cooperation with the Turkish Olympic Committee for three years to develop the Olympic spirit in Turkey and support the Committee’s international activities.”
The Turkish Olympic Committee is still considering whether to submit a bid for the 2024 Games.
