The Football Association of Malaysia has reached an agreement for telecommunications company Telekom Malaysia to become a major sponsor of club football in the country and take on rights for the national team.
Under a three-year deal, spanning 2015 to 2017, the country’s domestic knockout competition will be known as TM Piala Malaysia.
Telekom Malaysia’s branding will be integrated into the Piala Malaysia logo and it will enjoy a range of commercial benefits in association with the tournament.
Additionally, Telekom Malaysia becomes the co-sponsor of the Malaysia Super League for 2016 and 2017 under a deal with Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership – the body established earlier this year to privatise Malaysia’s domestic football competitions.
The agreement also marks the renewal of TM’s continued support towards local football development and raising the standards of Malaysian football, which will see TM’s logo being displayed on national team training jerseys as well as on its official stationeries, and related marketing and communications materials.
The agreements were brokered by the MP & Silva agency, FAM’s global media and commercial rights advisor.
