Financial services company Aberdeen Asset Management has signed a one-year extension to its title sponsorship agreement with Cowes Week as the Isle of Wight sailing regatta continues its search for a new partner.
AAM’s five-year agreement with Cowes Week Limited, the regatta’s organising body, expired following last year’s event but the company has signed on for one more edition.
Cowes Week hopes to secure a new title sponsor in time for its 2017 event.
“We enjoyed our time as title sponsor of Cowes Week and always said that, if required, we would help support the event in this transitional year for the regatta and in their search for a new backer,” AAM chief executive Martin Gilbert said. “Cowes Week is a flagship British event in a fantastic stretch of water with an unrivalled history behind it, so we’re confident that a new sponsor will be found for 2017.”
This year’s Cowes Week takes place from August 6-13.
