Swiss watchmaker Tissot has expanded its partnership with the International Basketball Federation (Fiba) by becoming the official timekeeper of Fiba 3×3.
Tissot is already a top-tier partner of Fiba and last September signed a new five-year agreement with the body running until 2021.
Under the new deal, Tissot will now present the Buzzer Beater clips featuring the most spectacular baskets scored at the buzzer during Fiba 3×3 competitions which are available to fans across Fiba 3×3 digital platforms.
Tissot will also launch the Last Minute series, which introduces the last 60 seconds of the season’s most exciting games, and the Fastest Game! Features, which will showcase teams that win games well before the 10-minute mark.
Tissot will benefit from significant brand exposure around the court and on television and livestreaming, with on-screen credits to be displayed in connection with scores, data and statistics of games at all Fiba competitions. The company will also offer watches as awards to players, teams and fans.
Additionally, Tissot is granted exclusive rights in the product category of watches, clocks and timing/scoring system services across all of Fiba 3×3’s international competitions. The deal covers all national team cups, Olympic qualifiers and the Fiba 3×3 World Tour.
Fiba secretary general Patrick Baumann said: “Fiba and Tissot have had a very successful partnership for nearly a decade. Tissot is more than a partner – they are a part of the Fiba Family. This long-term relationship makes us confident that Tissot are an ideal partner to grow 3×3 basketball as the game prepares for its Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2020.”
Tissot president François Thiébaud added: “The sport of 3×3 is dynamic and precise and with games being so quick the players are always up against the clock. This makes it a perfect fit with the Tissot philosophy.”
