The Open signs latest Premier League partner

English Premier League football club Manchester City has entered into a partnership with organisers of golf’s Open Championship.

This year’s edition of the UK’s major will take place at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, Merseyside from July 16-23.

As part of the agreement, The Open and Manchester City will collaborate to deliver exclusive content to both golf and football fans ahead of the event.

The partnership will also give fans the chance to view the Claret Jug, the trophy awarded to the winner of The Open, when it visits Manchester City’s club store and hospitality golf day.

In addition, fans who purchase Open tickets via www.TheOpen.com/Tickets using the promotional code ‘146thOpenCity’ until April 7 will receive a free branded cap, which will be collectable at the event.

The Open signed a similar agreement with Manchester City’s Premier League rival, Everton, last month.

This year’s Open will mark Royal Birkdale’s 10th staging of the event. Sweden’s Henrik Stenson (pictured) is the defending champion, having picked up his first major title at Royal Troon in Scotland last year.
