Major League Baseball outfit the Texas Rangers has signed up three new sponsors ahead of the new season, while rival team the San Diego Padres has partnered with tyre distributor Tireco.
The Rangers have partnered with men’s hair salon company Knockouts, restaurant chain Golden Chick and energy company Energy Transfer Partners.
Knockouts’ two-year deal with the team covers the 2018 and 2019 MLB seasons. The agreement includes the Knockouts Haircuts Strikeout feature, which will be displayed at Globe Life Park and announced when a Rangers pitcher records a strikeout against an opposing player.
The length of Golden Chick’s partnership was not disclosed but the company will sponsor the Rangers Dot Race at every home game during the 2018 season, which gets underway today (Thursday).
Energy Transfer Partners has signed a two-year deal with the Rangers, through which it will support the team’s foundation through charitable events. It will also benefit from signage at Globe Life Park.
Meanwhile, Tireco has agreed a two-year partnership with the Padres. The deal covers the WestLake import brand and includes a signage package, on-site activation and hospitality opportunities for Tireco dealers and VIPs. The deal marks Tireco marks first sports marketing partnership.
The Rangers begin the 2018 season against the Houston Astros, last year’s World Series winners, while the Padres face off against the Milwaukee Brewers. Today marks the first time in 50 years that the opening day of the MLB season will feature all 30 teams.
