Telecommunications company Telekom Malaysia has signed on as the first partner of the 2017 edition of multi-sport event the Southeast Asian Games.
The deal also incorporates the 2017 ASEAN Para Games, which Malaysia plans to host simultaneously from August 19-31 next year. The agreement will be worth RM15m (€3.3m/$3.8m) in cash and in kind, according to the New Straits Times newspaper, with TM serving as a top-tier platinum partner.
Malaysia’s hosting of the 29th SEA Games comes after Singapore staged the 2015 event. Malaysia came fourth in the medal table for Singapore 2015.
