US petroleum company Citgo is to expand its partnership with the Special Olympics to support the Unified Relay Across America, a nationwide torch relay race that will be staged in the lead-up to the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles.
Under the agreement, Citgo will serve as the official fuel sponsor of the event.
The Unified Relay Across America torch relay will feature various celebrities and Special Olympics athletes, each of which will take turns carrying the Special Olympics torch.
The 46-day race will comprise three simultaneous routes that will cross all 50 states in the US and conclude in Los Angeles, California.
Citgo will support the 36 vehicles that will accompany the torchbearers from the East to the West coast.
The 2015 Games, featuring 25 sports and about 7,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities, will take place from July 25 to August 2.
