Major League Soccer franchise Seattle Sounders has extended its shirt sponsorship deal with Microsoft’s console brand Xbox for a further season.
Xbox has held the Sounders’ front-of-shirt branding space since it joined MLS in 2009 but its present agreement with the team was due to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Sounders general manager and part-owner Adrian Hanauer expressed his satisfaction with the deal on Wednesday before adding, “hopefully this leads to something even longer term”.
The Sounders’ shirt branding has simply read “Xbox” for the past three seasons having initially been emblazoned with “Xbox360” and Hanauer said he was unsure whether the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox One console would result in a change to the wording.
