Financial services company DBS Bank has reached a deal to serve as the naming sponsor of the dragon boat and sailing races at the 2015 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore.
The sponsorship is worth SGD$3.5m (€2.17m/$2.7m), meaning the multi-sport event has now acquired SGD$33m of its SGD$50m commercial revenue target for the Games.
The Marina Regatta 2015 water sports event, also title sponsored by DBS, will be held in conjunction with the SEA Games on the weekend of May 30-31, with the open and women’s races staged at Marina Bay.
Cash prizes for the dragon races at the next edition of the Marina Regatta will increase from SGD$195,000 to SGD$213,000.
DBS is the seventh official sponsor of the 2015 SEA Games alongside SingTel, Deloitte Singapore, NTUC FairPrice, Kingsmen, FBT and Rajah & Tann Singapore.
The 28th SEA Games will be held from June 5-16, with Singapore Sports Hub as the main venue for the Games.
