Organisers of the upcoming ASEAN Para Games in Singapore have agreed a partnership with automotive group Cycle & Carriage.
The deal takes the total amount of sponsorship money raised to S$6.5m (€4.3m/$4.6m), surpassing the S$5m target set by organisers. Cycle & Carriage becomes a tier-one sponsor of the multi-sport event.
As part of the agreement, reportedly worth around S$600,000, the company will provide Games organisers with a fleet of 78 cars.
“These are vehicles meant largely for hospitality, and for the operations for many of the officials and dignitaries that will be visiting the Games,” Lim Teck Yin, chairman of the Singapore ASEAN Para Games organising committee, said. “There are a set of dignitaries who will have cars dedicated for their use, while others will be pooled in a group and allocated according to their needs.”
The relationship will continue after the Games, after Cycle & Carriage agreed to lease its Maxus mini-van model to the Singapore Disability Sports Council for free for two years.
Asian athletes with physical disabilities contest the biennial Games. This year’s event takes place in Singapore from December 3-9.
