Italian Serie A football clubs have been afforded a new sponsorship opportunity after Lega Serie A, the governing body of the top division, approved the introduction of a fourth branding place on shirts.
The league said clubs have voted to change Article 72 of its statutes, which had previously limited teams to three shirt sponsor placements during games.
The change in regulations will mean a 200cm squared area on the back of the team shirt, just below the number, will now be opened up to sponsors.
