Rogers seals renewal for Canadian tennis showpiece

Canadian telecommunications company Rogers has secured a long-term extension to its title sponsorship of the Rogers Cup tennis tournaments.

Rogers’ renewal with the competition, which encompasses the men’s ATP Masters 1000 and women’s WTA Premier 5 events alternating annually between its Toronto and Montreal sites, is for five years spanning 2016 to 2020.

Financial terms for the agreement were not disclosed.

Tennis Canada and Rogers will continue to work together on grassroots tennis initiatives.
Financial institution National Bank is the tournament’s presenting sponsor.

“Sport continues to be a key pillar in our strategy of delivering world-class content and experiences to Canadians,” Livia Zufferli, senior vice-president of brand for Rogers, said.  “We look forward to our continued partnership with Tennis Canada to help grow the game.”

In 2015, the men’s event will be staged at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal from August 7 to 16, while the women’s event will take place at Rexall Centre in Toronto from August 8 to 16. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Agnieszka Radwanska are the reigning singles champions.
