Sporting goods company Riddell has extended its agreement to produce collectible helmets for the NFL through the American football league’s 2018-19 season.
The deal comes less than two months after the NFL opted against renewing Riddell’s status as its official playing helmet partner.
Riddell retains rights to use NFL images in promotional campaigns having retained the collectible helmet designation. According to a report by ChicagoBusiness.com, collectible helmets account for 10 per cent of Riddell’s $200m (€144m) annual revenue.
“Riddell values its ongoing relationship with the NFL, and we are proud of our long-standing history as the helmet of choice for the majority of NFL players,” Riddell president Dan Arment said in a statement."
