US sportswear company Nike has renewed its partnership with the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).
The new long-term deal will run until 2024 and will see Nike continue to design and supply apparel for the 25 teams under the FPF umbrella. Nike will also support the continued growth of women’s football in Portugal.
Nike has been a partner of the FPF for 20 years and supplied the kit for the men’s team’s Uefa European Championships win in France last year.
FPF president Fernando Gomes said: “It has been 20 years since Nike started collaborating with the FPF. Since then, the first team has qualified for 10 consecutive final stages, including next summer's (World Cup) tournament in Russia.
“In France, Portugal became the first Nike national team to become European champion, is twice under-17 champion and beach football world and European champion. The team has played European final matches in different categories, including European finals in women’s football.”
Gomes added that the FPF and Nike would “explore new opportunities for both brands” throughout the term of the new contract.
Portugal sealed qualification for next year’s World Cup in Russia with a 2-0 win over Switzerland on Tuesday.
