Japanese electronics company Panasonic has agreed a deal to become a main sponsor of Lega Basket Serie A, the top tier of club basketball in Italy.
The two-year agreement covers the remainder of the 2016-17 season and the 2017-18 campaign. Panasonic will serve as the main sponsor of Serie A and other Lega Basket events including the Final Eight, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa.
Panasonic will receive on-court brand exposure as part of the agreement, beginning with the start of the Final Eight event in Rimini tomorrow (Thursday).
Serie A president Egidio Bianchi said: “After the three-year agreement signed with PosteMobile for title sponsorship of Serie A, the agreement between the Lega Basket and Panasonic is confirmation of how Serie A is able to attract major brands that are not only Italian but also global.”
Italy-based mobile virtual network operator PosteMobile signed as the new title sponsor of Lega Basket Serie A in December. The agreement runs for three seasons, from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
