Palmeiras scores lucrative extension with kit sponsors

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Palmeiras has extended its kit sponsorship deals with financial services group Crefisa and São Paulo-based education centre Faculdade das Américas (FAM).

Under the agreement, Crefisa and FAM will occupy all of the sponsorship space on Palmeiras’ playing kits and other official uniforms during the 2016 Serie A season.

Although financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, the Maquina do Esporte website claimed the deal is worth a record-breaking R$58m (€13.3m/$14.4m) for the Brazilian market.

Palmeiras president Paulo Nobre confirmed that FAM will be the club’s shorts and socks sponsor. Crefisa will retain its front-of-shirt branding and its logo will also appear on the shoulders and on one sleeve. The addition of sock branding is believed to be a first in Brazilian football.

Both Crefisa and FAM entered into partnerships with the club in January 2015 ahead of last year’s Serie A campaign.
