English Super League rugby league champion St Helens has signed a three-year kit deal with Irish sports apparel manufacturer O’Neills Sportswear.
Under the agreement, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, O’Neills will supply match kit, training wear and leisure wear to the St Helens squad.
The team’s backroom staff will wear O’Neills-branded clothing and an extensive range will be made available to St Helens’ supporters, with the company undertaking a refit of the superstore at the club’s Langtree Park stadium.
O’Neills is the official sportswear provider to the Gaelic Athletic Association in its native Ireland and has a growing presence in both codes of rugby across the UK, supplying kit to St Helens’ Super League counterpart Widnes Vikings.
Neil Williams at O’Neills Sportswear said: “This is a landmark agreement for O'Neills Sportswear who has a long heritage of supplying quality kit throughout the world and, as a brand passionate about what we do; it makes perfect sense to affiliate ourselves with a club like St Helens RFC that has an equally passionate and committed following throughout the world. This partnership gives us an opportunity to demonstrate our strong commitment to rugby and we very much look forward to working with St Helens going forward.”
St Helens battled its way to a 14-6 win over rivals Wigan Warriors in the Super League Grand Final earlier this month.
