Spanish energy company Repsol has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) ahead of the 2016 summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Terms of the deal, which marks the first time Repsol has partnered with the COP, were not disclosed.
The partnership will include the launch of a new Repsol discount card for Portuguese athletes.
“This partnership not only brings benefits to the COP and the Olympians but also to all national sports federations and their federated athletes,” José Manuel Constantino, COP president, said.
Rio 2016 takes place from August 5-21. Portugal will be looking to improve on its performance at the 2012 Games in London, where it picked up a solitary silver medal.
