Nürnberger Versicherung commits as main sponsor of FC Nürnberg

German Bundesliga football club FC Nürnberg has secured a three-year extension to its partnership with main sponsor, insurance group Nürnberger Versicherung.

The locally-based company has served in the role since July 2016 and will continue as Nürnberg’s main shirt sponsor.

The two parties said the new deal will focus on initiatives off the pitch through youth sport and social projects.

Niels Rossow, commercial director of FC Nürnberg, said: “The club is much healthier today. Together, Nürnberger and the club celebrated their promotion to the Bundesliga. That leaves you wanting more.

“In the medium term, we have the clear vision of establishing the club as a first division team. We want to achieve this by sporting success, which we want to feed through a broader economic base.”

However, following promotion last season, Nürnberg currently sits at the foot of the 2018-19 Bundesliga table. Armin Zitzmann, chief executive of Nürnberger Versicherung, added: “Our contract extension is a strong signal that we stand behind the club and are a reliable partner even in turbulent times.

“Our commitment to FC Nürnberg is a sign of our solid orientation and our goal to support the club, to be successful in sports.”
