The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has reached a provisional agreement to extend its partnership with German sportswear manufacturer Adidas, according to multiple reports.
The status of the NFF’s relationship with Adidas had been in doubt, with the current deal due to expire at the end of the month. However, NFF president Amaju Pinnick said an agreement in principle had been reached on a fresh deal, blaming the governance crisis that has enveloped Nigerian football in recent months for the delay.
“We requested for an extension, which has been granted and we will see how we can tidy up and get Adidas back because we have a prime commodity in the Super Falcons (women’s team) playing in the (Fifa) World Cup next year,” Pinnick said, according to Nigerian newspaper the Daily Independent.
The current deal between the NFF and Adidas was struck in 2011 and is said to be worth about €10m ($12.4m).
