South Korean tyre and rubber tubing manufacturer Nexen has agreed a sponsorship deal with Australian A-League football club Melbourne City.
The multi-year deal will grant Nexen brand exposure on the club’s away shirt sleeves from the 2017-18 season.
Nexen’s logo will also feature on Melbourne City’s training kit in the lead-up to the 2017 Finals Series. The partnership encompasses the club’s women’s team.
Nexen will benefit from signage at the club’s home stadium, AAMI Park, as well as player appearances and ticketing opportunities.
Jang-Hwan Lee, managing director of Nexen’s global marketing division, said: “We are excited to serve as the official partner for Melbourne City Football Club, one of the fastest growing football clubs. It gives us the unique opportunity to reach out to the numerous football fans in the Oceania region, a part of the world which we deem very important to our business.
“At Nexen Tyre, we continue to strive to expand our brand globally and sports marketing partnerships with leading sports club like Melbourne City Football Club is a great stepping stone in those efforts.”
The deal comes after Nexen last month expanded its partnership with Melbourne City’s sister club, Manchester City, to become the English Premier League side’s first-ever shirt-sleeve sponsor from next season.
Nexen said at the time that it would announce further deals with clubs within the City Football Group, which operates the likes of Manchester City, Melbourne City and Major League Soccer franchise New York City FC.
