Australian department store group Myer has extended its association with the Victoria Racing Club – the organiser of horse racing’s Melbourne Cup – through a five-year commercial deal.
The new agreement will extend co-operation between the two parties to 35 years and expands upon an established collection of sponsorships.
As the VRC’s exclusive fashion partner, Myer will continue to have naming rights sponsorship of Myer Fashions on the Field National Competition series, which features as part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The 2013 edition of the Field National Competition is in progress, with state finals in Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland having already taken place and the New South Wales and Western Australia legs to follow.
Additionally, Myer will continue to host a marquee in the front row of the exclusive Birdcage Enclosure throughout the four days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Myer is one of the VRC’s four major partners alongside AAMI, Crown and beer brand James Boag’s. Emirates act as lead partner.
This year’s Melbourne Cup takes place at Flemmington Racecourse on November 5.
