Japanese sportswear and equipment company Mizuno has been named as the official performance apparel partner of the Boat Race, the annual rowing race between the English universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
The partnership begins with the 2018 race and will cover the next two seasons.
Mizuno will exclusively produce and design performance apparel and gym wear for the two squads as part of the agreement.
Mizuno agreed a partnership with the British Rowing national governing body in March. The four-year deal runs until December 2020, with Mizuno serving as the official sportswear partner of the body. It marked the first major sportswear agreement signed by British Rowing.
Edd Dibb, Mizuno’s European team apparel manager, said: “We’re delighted to be on-board with such a prestigious event and a brand that is fundamental to the British sporting calendar. After working alongside British Rowing, the Boat Race is another huge step as we look to continue our expansion into the rowing market.”
The 2018 Boat Race will take place on the River Thames in London on March 24.
