Mitsubishi Motors, the automotive manufacturing arm of Japan’s Mitsubishi Group, has agreed a deal to become the official performance partner of England Rugby.
The three-year partnership will run until the 2019 World Cup in Japan.
Mitsubishi Motors will back England’s senior, U20 and U18 rugby union sides, as well as the player pathway grassroots programme. England’s training centre has also been renamed the Mitsubishi Motors England Rugby Training Centre as part of the deal.
In return, the company’s Intelligent Motion brand will be promoted through a fan engagement campaign that will launch during the 2016-17 season. A volunteer reward scheme will also be launched next year.
England’s head coach Eddie Jones (pictured with England captain Dylan Hartley) has also been announced as a brand ambassador for Mitsubishi Motors.
The deal builds on a partnership Mitsubishi Motors signed with the Rugby Football Union, the governing body of English rugby union, in April. The company is an official partner of the RFU and its branding is set to feature on the playing jerseys of England’s U18 and U21 teams from this season onwards.
