US beer brand Michelob Ultra has strengthened its position within golf by becoming a sponsor of the Ryder Cup and the PGA Championship.
The deal names Michelob Ultra as an official sponsor of the 2020 Ryder Cup, which will take place at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.
The brand will also hold the same designation at the 2018 and 2019 editions of the PGA Championship, the fourth and final major tournament of the year. The 2018 PGA Championship takes place at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis from August 6-12, with the 2019 event scheduled for Bethpage Black on Long Island in New York.
Michelob Ultra will also become the presenting sponsor of the PGA Championship’s Wanamaker Club, as well as the International Pavilion at the 2020 Ryder Cup.
Michelob Ultra’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, agreed the deals with the PGA of America governing body.
PGA of America chief revenue officer Kevin Ring said: “With the historic 100th PGA Championship being contested in Michelob Ultra’s and Anheuser-Busch's hometown of St. Louis this summer, this is a symbolic time to launch our partnership.”
Michelob Ultra already serves as the official beer sponsor of the PGA Tour and the PGA Tour Champions circuits. It has sponsored the PGA Tour since 2002.
