Mercedes-Benz has agreed to extend its partnership with the PGA of America golf organisation through to the end of 2017.
The German car company will retain its official patron and official vehicle titles for the PGA of America, along with the PGA Championship and Senior PGA Championship tournaments.
Mercedes, which began its relationship with the organisation in 2010, will additionally obtain US rights as the official patron of the 2014 Ryder Cup, as well as global rights, with the exception of Europe, for the 2016 Ryder Cup. The extension of the partnership will also encompass the PGA’s centennial celebration in 2016.
As part of the deal, attendees at PGA of America Championship events will have access to the latest technology in vehicles and golf training at the on-site PGA Performance Center presented by Mercedes-Benz. The firm will also provide courtesy cars to professionals competing in such events.
In addition, the company will hold the Mercedes-Benz Performance Drive Hole-in-One Challenge, an initiative that gives fans the chance to win a new GLK 250 BlueTEC model.
The firm will also run the Mercedes-Benz Mobile Performance Center, which travels the US with PGA professionals to provide complimentary mini-lessons to consumers. Mercedes will continue to work with its PGA brand ambassadors Adam Scott, Marcel Siem and Rickie Fowler on a number of other schemes.
