Australian food distribution firm Menora Foods has reached an agreement to become the naming sponsor of the country’s Women’s National Basketball League.
The deal with Australia’s premier women’s basketball competition takes effect immediately and runs through until the end of its 2015-16 season.
Australian Sports Commission chairman John Wylie recently called for businesses in the country to back women’s sport and praised the sponsorship.
“We have a number of highly successful female sporting competitions, teams and individuals in Australia presenting enormous opportunities for corporations to support through sponsorship,” he said. “Our women’s basketball teams have a well-deserved reputation for excellence through the success of the Opals (Australia’s national team) and the strength of the domestic WNBL competition.”
In line with Basketball Australia policy, the financial terms of the partnership were undisclosed.
