US assurance, tax and consulting services provider McGladrey has signed a five-year extension to its title sponsorship of the PGA Tour’s annual golf tournament in Sea Island, Georgia.
The company has put its name to the McGladrey Classic since its inception in 2010 and its commitment will now run through 2020.
McGladrey’s current three-year sponsorship agreement was due to expire at the conclusion of the 2015 tournament.
“From its inception in 2010, the purpose of the McGladrey Classic for McGladrey has been threefold: drive brand recognition, build upon our relationships with clients and potential clients and, most importantly, give back to the community,” McGladrey managing partner and chief executive Joe Adams said.
“The tournament has done all that – and more. Our business philosophy is based on the belief that the real power of any relationship comes through understanding, which leads to partnerships based on integrity and trust. Our belief is that, whether in the world of business or in the world of golf, a trusted advisor who ‘understands your game’ can help you make the right decisions to succeed.”
Over its first four years, the McGladrey Classic has raised nearly $2m (€1.56m) for children and families in need, with a significant portion of those funds directly benefiting the Special Olympics organisation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia.
The 2014 McGladrey Classic commences today (Thursday) at the Sea Island Golf Club. American Chris Kirk is the reigning champion.
