English Premier League football club Manchester United has entered into a global partnership with digital music platform Deezer.
The deal names Deezer as United’s first official audio streaming partner. The length of the agreement was not disclosed, although Deezer’s chief executive, Hans-Holger Albrecht, said the company is looking forward to building the relationship “over the next few years”.
To mark the partnership, United’s Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Morgan Schneiderlin and Ashley Young, as well as ex-player Rio Ferdinand, featured in a video to promote the service.
Under the agreement, Deezer will enhance the user experience on United's various club channels, with supporters to receive access to more than 43 million tracks and 40,000 pieces of broader audio content, such as podcasts. Deezer’s ‘Flow’ feature, which gives users a personalised soundtrack, will also be made available to fans.
In addition, match-day playlists will be put together for games at United’s Old Trafford stadium, while there will be integration between the club’s website and Deezer apps.
Manchester United group managing director Richard Arnold said: “As Deezer is an innovator and an industry leader, we look forward to providing our fans around the world with a new way to interact with the club they love through music and digital media.”
