Korean automotive company Hyundai has renewed its shirt sponsorship deal with French Ligue 1 football club Olympique Lyonnais.
The two-year extension, financial terms of which were not disclosed, will cover the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. The two parties’ previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Hyundai will remain the club’s main shirt sponsor as part of the deal.
Lionel French-Keogh, director general of Hyundai Motor France, said: “OL was used as a communication medium with advertisement, social networking, social room … The Parc OL (Lyon’s new stadium) is an important project for Lyon but also for Hyundai as it’s a fabulous tool that will allow for significant growth.”
Hyundai first partnered with Lyon in 2012. The company is also a global sponsor of this summer’s Uefa Euro 2016 national team tournament, which will take place in France from June 10 to July 10. Lyon is a host city for the competition.
