Airline Lufthansa has sealed an extension to its official partner agreement with the German Football Association (DFB) until 2018.
Germany’s flag carrier will continue to fly its national team players, staff and delegations to all international matches and tournaments, including Uefa Euro 2016 in France, the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia and the Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.
Lufthansa retains exclusive rights and marketing benefits in association with the DFB, including the inclusion of logos on all DFB communication material and associated promotions through the airline’s social media channels.
Additionally, the DFB and Lufthansa intend to roll out joint initiatives for Germany fans.
Lufthansa has partnered the DFB since 2005, a year after it first sponsored German champion Bayern Munich. It began sponsoring Bayern’s Bundesliga counterpart Eintracht Frankfurt in 2008, while it is also a long-time partner of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the National Paralympic Committee of Germany (DBS).
