German motor oil manufacturer Liqui Moly has extended its sponsorship of the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) World Championship ahead of the 2020 edition in Switzerland.
Liquid Moly has been the official sponsor of the title matches at the tournament since the 2017 edition in Germany and France. The company also supported the 2018 and 2019 events, which were held in Denmark and Slovakia, respectively.
Next year’s tournament will take place in Zurich and Lausanne from May 8-24.
Liqui Moly chief executive Ernst Prost said: “Many of our key markets have national teams. Ice hockey is popular there and we can increase the popularity of our brand.”
Prost added: “In this way the brand can be seen almost everywhere, even outside the motorsport season. And we reach a large additional audience through this advertising campaign.”
Liqui Moly’s motorsport sponsorship portfolio includes partnerships with Formula One, MotoGP and the TCR touring car series.
