Lindt secures title sponsorship for Italian Open

The Italian subsidiary of Swiss chocolatier Lindt, Lindt Italia, has taken on the title sponsorship of the 2013 Italian Open golf tournament.

The 70th edition of the event runs from September 19-22 at Golf Club Torino, the home club of brothers and European Ryder Cup stars Edoardo and Francesco Molinari.

Lindt heads a sponsorship roster that includes watchmaker Rolex, regional tourism group Regione Piemonte and coffee producer Lavazza.

In 2012, Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño scooped the €1.5m ($1.96m) winners’ cheque after carding an eight-under-par final round of 64 to seal a sixth career European Tour triumph.

Lindt takes over from German automotive firm BMW as the Italian Open’s title sponsor.
