Financial services company JP Morgan added to its squash portfolio over the weekend by serving as the title sponsor of the China Squash Open event.
As part of the agreement, JP Morgan received on- and off-court branding and in-venue promotion. The company was also granted exposure during television broadcasts of the tournament, which began in Shanghai last Thursday and concluded yesterday (Sunday).
The company’s sponsorship of the tournament resulted in the prize fund rising by 15 per cent, with a total of $100,000 (€89,500) and $70,000 on offer for the men’s and women’s events respectively.
Egypt’s Mohamed El Shorbagy picked up the men’s title, with England’s Laura Massaro (pictured) winning the women’s event.
JP Morgan also sponsors the Tournament of Champions event, which takes place every year in New York and forms part of the World Series circuit.
