Heavy equipment and lawn care equipment manufacturer John Deere has agreed a deal to support the 2019 edition of golf’s Solheim Cup, the biennial women’s team event contested by the United States and Europe.
John Deere will serve as the official golf course and turf maintenance machinery event partner for the tournament, which takes place at Gleneagles in Scotland from September 9-15 next year.
John Deere has partnered a number of Solheim Cup events in the past and already provides golf course maintenance machinery equipment across Gleneagles’ three courses.
As part of the agreement, John Deere will benefit from on-course branding, product displays in the spectator village and customer promotions and incentives at dealerships worldwide.
Scotland’s Sports Minister, Aileen Campbell, said: “John Deere is a global company and an innovator in their field, and their partnership with the 2019 Solheim Cup is evidence of the significant international pull that both Scotland – the home of golf – and the Solheim Cup have in the sporting world. We look forward to working with them and our other partners to stage an outstanding event.”
Team USA won the most recent Solheim Cup last year, defeating Team Europe 16.5-11.5 at Iowa’s Des Moines Golf and Country Club.
