Health insurance company iSelect has enhanced its association with Melbourne FC to become a co-principal partner of the AFL Aussie rules football team.
The two parties’ new two-year deal covers the 2017 and 2018 seasons and grants iSelect brand exposure on the back of the men’s team’s guernseys.
The company’s logo will also continue to feature on the front and back of the guernseys of Melbourne’s women’s team. The company signed on as the first-ever major partner of the team last year ahead of the inaugural AFL Women’s season.
Financial terms of the new agreement were not disclosed, but Australian newspaper The Age said the deal would be worth a “high six-figure sum”.
Melbourne chief executive Peter Jackson said: “For iSelect to broaden their partnership, and increase their investment to become our co-principal partner is a significant achievement for the club and reflects the strength of the AFLW platform on which the partnership was established.
“The fact that this is the first instance, on this scale, of an AFLW sponsor growing into a sponsorship of the men’s team is a really considerable step for our code.”
Melbourne’s men’s team wore its iSelect-branded kit for the first time during Saturday’s victory over the Adelaide Crows.
