Chinese telecommunications company Huawei has entered into its first major Aussie rules football sponsorship by partnering AFL team Gold Coast Suns.
The five year agreement, running from 2015 through until 2019, establishes Huawei as the Suns’ official technology and ball partner.
Suns chief executive Andrew Travis said: “Through the partnership, Huawei will take on a prominent brand position, but we will also be working together on a number of innovative concepts in which we will focus squarely on enhancing the fan experience at Metricon Stadium.”
Huawei Australia board director John Brumby added: “This sponsorship will enable Huawei to further build its consumer brand awareness through the Gold Coast Suns’ popularity at home games and television audiences around the country.”
Gold Coast Suns’ deal with Huawei comes less than two weeks after it secured United Petroleum as its coaches partner.
