Chinese telecommunications company Huawei has extended its backing of the Madrid Marathon.
The company has agreed to sponsor this year’s race in the Spanish capital, which takes place on April 24. Huawei will also sponsor the Madrid Half Marathon, which will be held on April 3. It will be the second successive year the company has sponsored the events.
Under the agreement, Huawei’s branding will feature on the race’s official logo, which will be advertised on runners’ shirts, bibs and medals, and will receive exposure through other marketing campaigns, TV and radio advertisements, newspapers and social media.
In addition, Huawei will have a presence on the day of the race and will have its own stand at pre-race events.
Tony Jin Yong, chief executive of Huawei in Spain, said: “The purpose of this sponsorship is to not only strengthen our brand recognition, but also to demonstrate our commitment to Spanish society.”
Huawei is one of two main partners of this year’s event, the other being energy company EDP, which will serve as title sponsor.
