North American computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool builder Haas Automation has agreed a deal with Formula One motor-racing team Ferrari.
The agreement will start immediately and run until the end of the 2015 season.
As part of the deal, Ferrari’s cars will carry Haas Automation’s logo on its side pods from the British Grand Prix this weekend.
Haas Automation will become the title sponsor of Gene Haas’ team when it launches in F1 in 2016, but the Ferrari deal marks the company’s entrance into the sport.
Scuderia Ferrari team principal Marco Mattiacci said: “This agreement strengthens our existing connections with the USA, an important market not only for our company, but also for Scuderia Ferrari, as it is one where the team already benefits from several important partnerships.
“In parallel, but as a separate project, Haas is committed to entering Formula One with its own team, a testimony to the growing appeal of our sport in the USA, and on this front, technical discussions are ongoing between us.”
