Gutiérrez signing leads to America Móvil deal for Ferrari

Formula One motor-racing team Ferrari has signed a sponsorship deal with Mexican telecommunications company America Móvil.

The agreement comes in the wake of Ferrari announcing on Monday that Mexican driver Esteban Gutiérrez, who drove for Ferrari-powered Sauber in the past two seasons, will become its new test and reserve driver from 2015.

Terms of the sponsorship deal were not disclosed, but from the 2015 season America Móvil’s principal brands, including Telmex, Telcel and Claro, will be provided with logo placement on Ferrari’s cars and on the race suits of its drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, along with Gutiérrez.

Last month, America Móvil extended its sponsorship deal with Force India for the 2015 season in the wake of Mexican driver Sergio Perez renewing his contract to race for the team for 2015 and beyond.

Mexico will host a grand prix on the Formula One calendar next year for the first time since 1992.
