German Football Association extends with banking partners

The German Football Association (DFB) has renewed partnerships with financial services companies Commerzbank and Targobank.

The DFB’s new five-year agreement with Commerzbank begins on January 1, 2019 and runs until July 31, 2024.

Commerzbank will retain its position as a premium partner of the DFB and will continue to sponsor the German men’s and women’s national teams. The company will also support the Junior-Coach youth programme and the planned DFB Academy.

Commerzbank has been a partner of the DFB since 2008. DFB president Reinhard Grindel said: “We are pleased that Commerzbank has prevailed in the tender procedure initiated by the DFB presidency and that it remains a reliable partner in our association.

“From our many years of cooperation, we know that Commerzbank promotes young talent and this is particularly evident in the Junior-Coach project, which has been running successfully for almost five years now.”

Targobank’s new partnership with the DFB runs until June 30, 2022. Targobank will continue to serve as an official partner of the DFB-Pokal club competition.

Denni Strich, Managing Director of DFB GmbH, added: “The tendering process in the field of finance was the first to be fully implemented by the new DFB GmbH. The good contract conclusion shows that the new construct and thus the demarcation between the economic business and the ideational field of the association already works well.”
