Badenova has expanded its partnership with SC Freiburg to become the sleeve sponsor of the German Bundesliga football club.
The energy supplier's branding will feature on the left sleeve of the team’s shirts as part of the new long-term deal. The agreement began with Freiburg’s 4-0 defeat against Bayern Munich yesterday (Sunday).
Badenova first partnered with Freiburg in 2003. The company held naming rights to Freiburg’s stadium from 2004 to 2011 and also supports the club’s women’s team.
Freiburg becomes the last of the 18 Bundesliga clubs to sign a sleeve sponsor for the 2017-18 campaign. The German Football League (DFL) announced in December 2015 that clubs would be free to pursue sleeve sponsors for this season after electing to end its central marketing approach for branding on that area of teams’ shirts.
Logistics service provider Hermes held rights to the area under a four-and-a-half-year contract that expired at the end of the 2016-17 season, with its branding having appeared on the sleeves of all players in the top-tier Bundesliga and second-tier 2.Bundesliga.
